Arts

The Faculty of Arts is home to approximately 7,500 students and more than 270 full-time professors. On the strength of 18 departments, schools, centres and institutes representing three main sectors (languages and literatures, fine arts and humanities), the Faculty offers undergraduate, certificate, master’s and PhD programs in both English and French.

Education

The Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa, along with its committment to the promotion, advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of education, is actively involved in the pre-service and professional development education of teachers. The Faculty strives toward leadership in the field of education through collaboration with other postsecondary institutions and the various partners in the educational community.

Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (Interdisciplinary Studies)

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS) offers unique interdisciplinary programs which can suit your particular needs. Interdisciplinary programs have emerged from the cooperation between two or more graduate units. They are designed to integrate knowledge from several disciplines in the study of a particular topic.

Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences is made up of four schools (Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences, Human Kinetics and the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences). The Faculty excels in its research thanks to the efforts of over 100 researchers working in a variety of disciplines, from molecular biology to metabolism, from human kinetics to social sciences of health. In collaboration with other faculties, we also offer a multidisciplinary PhD program in population health and have entered into agreements with more than 250 clinical agencies and community organizations to offer our students the best clinical experiences and training possible.

Law

A joint endeavour of the Common Law and Civil Law sections of the Faculty of Law, Graduate Studies in Law builds upon the unique strengths and character of each section to offer programs at the master’s and doctoral level. Our graduate students benefit from a variety of choices and opportunities thanks to the collaboration of both sections and their faculty members. Areas of faculty expertise provide the foundation for degree programs, supervision and courses in International Law (including International Humanitarian and Security Law); Human Rights; International Trade and Foreign Investment Law; Environmental Law; Law and Technology; Law and Social Justice; and Notarial Law. The rich intellectual life of the Faculty of Law is complemented by the University of Ottawa’s location in Canada’s capital. The Parliament, the Supreme Court of Canada, and numerous federal agencies are all within walking distance from the Faculty.

The Faculty of Science consists of more than 100 full-time professors in five departments: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. Researchers within the Faculty are pursuing some of the most significant and relevant scientific matters of our day. It comprises several areas of strategic significance such as molecular biology, genetics, biopharmaceutical sciences, environmental genomics, catalysis, nanotechnology, applied modern mathematics and statistics.

The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in both English and French. Our 250 professors, through their respective research interests and initiatives, develop ideas that change the world.
